A British study found that a smoker, will experience memory problems in middle age.
Starting in the early age of 40 to 50 years, smokers will experience a rapid decline in memory, compared with nonsmokers.
A study published in the American Journal of Public Health showed that the relationship between smoking and dementia appear stronger in people who smoked more than 20 cigarettes per day.
Dr. Marcus Richards said the cause of cigarettes accelerate memory loss is still unclear. "We suspect, smoking can speed up memory impairment with increased risk of hypertension. And hypertension can damage the brain, "said researchers from University College London.
Alternatively, chemicals in cigarette smoke can also damage the brain directly. "Whatever the reason, hhasil this research is obvious," he added. "This is one reason for people to stop smoking."
The study involved 5362 people aged over an average of 40.
